Doreen Elizabeth (Andrade) Driver, 60 years of age, passed away on September 8th, 2015. Doreen was born on the bright dewy morning of November 16th, 1954 in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Doreen spent her childhood in the small beach town of Duxbury. She defined her four years at Duxbury High School with happiness and positivity, where she made lifelong friends and memories. She graduated with honors with the Class of 1973. When she reached her early twenties, she set her glinting eyes out to California, where she earned her Screen Actors Guild membership performing on television shows such as Fame (as a dancer) and Night Court, among others.
Doreen visited her family in Duxbury many times while living across the country. On one visit, while eating in a little restaurant, The Charlie Horse, she met her old high school crush and future husband, Bill Driver. On Sunday, September 5, 1993, Doreen Elizabeth Andrade became Doreen Elizabeth Driver. They had two beautiful children, Kira and Will.
The most important thing in Doreen's lustrous life was being a mom. Doreen's children never went wanting; she loved her kids more brilliantly than anything in the world. No task was too tall or too small if it was for them. She would blow out a small wall for them, build a home for them, support them, chart a right life for them; she would rewrite the stars for them. She let them know it: every time she hugged them, every time she kissed them, every time she coddled them, every time she said "I love you", she let them know that they meant the world to her. She showed them a love and care and a light so powerful that they would never forget it. Doreen was a sparkling, brilliant candle, a roaring unquenchable fire, and her light birthed theirs. She nurtured their little flames and taught them to burn brightly with her.
Doreen was spiritual, loving and happy. She wanted every day to be about happiness. Doreen was very connected to spirit and positivity, and her spiritual journey inspired her to become a certified yoga instructor. She felt that everyone deserved happiness, so she became the co-director of the Duxbury Interfaith Council's food basket program and was a member of the South Shore Community Action Council. In 2007, she received the Duxbury Community Volunteer Award.
Doreen was predeceased by her father, Richard Andrade of Carver, Massachusetts, and her loving Aunt Stella and Uncle Dave Perry of Duxbury, Massachusetts. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Driver, and their warm children Will Driver and Kira Driver of Duxbury; her mother, Annie Lyles of Harwich, Massachusetts; her sisters, Kim Carey (Kevin) of Orcutt, California, Kim Tavares (Mark) of Boston, Massachusetts, Randi Leigh of Duxbury, and Toni Perry of Duxbury; brothers David Perry, Jr., of Duxbury, Jeffrey Lyles of Harwich, and Lawrence Greene of California; her loving Aunt Barbara Barrows; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. We love you, Doreen.
Relatives, friends, and acquaintances are invited to attend a Celebration of Doreen's life on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury Massachusetts.
