Doreen Ann Tobin, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Marshfield on Monday, July 10, 2023, after a long illness. Doreen is survived by Robert Tobin, her beloved husband of 59 years, their son Christopher and his wife Kim, along with her 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Emily and the family dog Logan.
Daughter of George and Lucille Connell, Doreen was born and raised in Abington. She attended Abington High School and had a career as a banker for many years. She visited the beaches of Marshfield in her youth which eventually became her home for almost 60 years. Bob will never forget all the summer weekends he spent with Doreen at Rexhame Beach.
Doreen was a devoted mother, grandmother, godmother and Aunt and loved her family more than words can say, hosting many family gatherings and extended family Christmas parties. She loved fireworks, the beach and sitting in the sun. She also loved hot air balloons, and one of the happiest days of her life was when she got to ride in one. She'll be remembered for her love of football, which is how she met Bob when he was playing for the Mitchell Club semi-pro team, and they enjoyed watching the Patriots over many years and through thick and thin.
Doreen was a devout churchgoer, teaching CCD in her younger years. She enjoyed sharing her love of the church with her friends and family and would always make sure to let them know when any event was planned.
Chris will cherish the memories of the weekly lunches he spent with his mother while at college and the lasagna she would make for his birthdays along with her world famous fudgies. Her granddaughters will always remember breakfast at the Milk Bottle, lunch at Friendly's and the amazing love and support she gave to them. She loved dogs and was a dog mom to Shadow, Smokey, Tupper & Logan who misses her very much.
Services for Doreen will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
