Doris M. Burns, age 93, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, surrounded by her family, after living a wonderful long life. Born in Newton, MA, she was the beloved daughter of Rocco and Maria Sementelli and one of their eight children. Doris graduated from Newton High School and worked as an administrative assistant at Raytheon and later at the MBTA. She married Robert Burns and together they were wonderful parents to Susan (Catherine London), Jean (Chet Quimby), Diane and Robert (Theresa), raising their family in West Newton and Marshfield. Doris was a loving wife and mother and was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren (Matthew Quimby, Lynn (Quimby) Crocker, Jonathan Burns (Julia), Christopher Burns (Julie) and Amanda (Burns) Beauregard (Jeffrey). In her later years, she was thrilled to spend time with her great grandchildren (Brayden and Ella Crocker, Louden Quimby, Abigail and Madison Burns, Jackson Burns, and Isabella Beauregard). Doris was close to her extended family and to her many friends in Newton, Marshfield and other areas. For many years, Doris loved spending time near the ocean, in Marshfield and in West Yarmouth, where the family had a summer home. She will be deeply missed by her many friends at the Marshfield Senior Center, the Village at Proprietors Green and elsewhere.

Visiting hours will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on October 7, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place on October 8, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christine’s Parish, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield. Procession from MacDonald Funeral Home to St. Christine’s Parish will depart at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Winslow Cemetery, Winslow Cemetery Road in Marshfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris’s memory to the Marshfield Senior Center, 230 Webster Street, Marshfield MA 02050.
