Dorothy (Dottie/Dot) A. Burum (Perry), 82, of Marshfield, MA passed away on March 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband of 64 years Walter (Jack) Burum, her brother Walter and sister Irene and her brother-in-law Robert (Digger) Dorsey. Loving mother to Walter (John) and his wife Mary, Rhonda DiCarlo, Rich and his wife Kathy. Adoring Nana to Ryan, Leann, Jack, Kevin, Sam, Rachael, and Max. She is also survived by her 4 sisters, Thelma Williams (Phil), Joan Dorsey, Linda Cibotti and Gloria Ferrulle (Jim) and many special nieces and nephews.
Dottie was born in Somerville, MA and raised in Squantum, MA as a member of the Perry family. The Perry's treasured their time together especially summers sailing up to Marblehead.
Dot graduated from North Quincy High in 1958 and then married and began raising her children in Wollaston, MA before moving to Marshfield in 1972.
Dottie enjoyed a successful career as a realtor but her true passion was raising her children. Whether it was having freshly baked cookies awaiting her children as they got off the school bus or driving them to hockey games as one Marshfield's original "Hockey Mom's" she was always there for her children. She then cherished her role as Nana when her grandchildren entered her world. She was always so proud of all they accomplished, loved supporting them at their games, and treasured card games with them at her kitchen table.
Dot enjoyed ceramics, tending to her gardens, and walks down at the South River with Jack. She had an adventurous side to her along with her warm heart.
As the oldest of her surviving sisters, Thelma, Joan, Linda, and Gloria she will be missed at the sisters birthday luncheons and all the family gatherings, especially, "The Perry Christmas Party".
We are all comforted knowing she is in heaven filled with peace and joy with her best friend and love of her life, Jack.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and will conclude with a memorial service at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Following the service, Dottie will be laid to rest in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
