Obituary

Edward Joseph Bonneau of Longwood, FL, formerly of Whitinsville, MA, passed away on March 29, 2025 at the age of 78. Ed was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Johnson) Bonneau for over fifty-five years; loving father of Steven Bonneau of Longwood, FL and Randy Bonneau and his wife Kate (Stone) Bonneau of Duxbury, MA; cherished grandfather of Austin, Abby, Julia, and Emma; and dear brother of Bill Bonneau and his wife Carol of Vero Beach, FL and brother of Carol Bonneau, who predeceased him.

Ed graduated from Burrillville High School in RI in 1964 and Rhode Island Junior College in 1967 with a degree in Engineering. Shortly afterward, Ed was drafted into the United States Army and deployed to the South Korean border during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Specialist (SPC) during his time in the service. In the following twenty-eight years, he worked for New England Power and retired as a Repairman First Class. In recognition of his steadfast commitment to Council 365 in Whitinsville, Ed attained the role of Honorary Life Member for the Knights of Columbus.

Ed's life was a testament to resilience and unwavering dedication. Shaped by the early loss of his mother and the nurturing embrace of his Uncle Charlie Molles and Aunt Vera Molles on the Pascoag farm, he blossomed into a man of remarkable character. That farm, his childhood haven, instilled in him a love for the outdoors, a tireless work ethic, and a spirit of adventure that would define his journey. Ed's mechanical ingenuity, cultivated in his youth and further refined through his engineering studies, military service, and career at New England Power, was always evident in his busy hands and the handiwork he produced. Whether he was caring for his relatives in California or sharing his passions with Steven and Randy, his heart overflowed with devotion. He found joy in simple pleasures: a country drive with Priscilla, a well-timed dad joke, skiing and camping with his sons, taking in a show at the Theatre By The Sea in South Kingston, enjoying the 3rd of July fireworks in Marshfield, the laughter of his grandchildren followed by trips for ice cream, going to Aunt Carrie's in Narragansett and Wood's in Plymouth for fried oysters and lobster, the salty air of Scarborough Beach, and the quiet satisfaction of a job well done. His smile was lit from within and meant the world to those fortunate to know and love him. Ed's quick wit and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met, a legacy of love, hard work, and quiet strength.
