Obituary

Edward R. Bursaw of Humarock passed away on May 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 74. Born in Brockton on April 4, 1947 to the late Grace (Gammon) and George Bursaw, Sr., he was the loving husband of Maryanne (Dowd) Bursaw and devoted father of Peter J. Bursaw of Humarock. Loving son in-law of the late Walter and Margaret Dowd of Watertown and Humarock, he was predeceased by a brother, George C. Bursaw, formerly of Brockton and Salem, NH, but is survived by a brother, Kenneth E. Bursaw of Brockton and sister in-law Deirdre Dowd-Pizzuto and her husband, Stephen Pizzuto of Humarock. Ed was the loving "Uncled" and "Buddy" of Sebastian P. Pizzuto of Humarock, and Uncle to niece Lisa Robillard and nephew George Bursaw, III of Rhode Island. Ed also leaves his 2 "Grandcats", Meatball and Ravioli, and was "Cat Dad" to Penne. Ed loved these cats, and Penne was a real comfort to him in his final days.

Ed was a decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the VFW and was serving as the Senior Vice Commander at the Daniel Webster VFW in Marshfield.

Ed enjoyed a 32-year career as a Special Education, Math, and History Teacher at the South Shore Vocational Technical School in Hanover, retiring in 2009. Ed also served as an 8th grade and Confirmation Teacher at St. Christine's in Marshfield for many years, touching the lives of many young people with the sharing of his faith story, and encouraging them to create their own stories.

Ed was known to be a quiet man, but his quiet, caring way drew many people to him, and he is survived by many friends and family.
