Edward Mendes, a long time Marshfield resident died peacefully on April 10, 2015 at the age of 84 surrounded by his loved ones at South Shore Hospital. Life began with his late parents, Isadora (Gomes) & Christian Mendes on July 21, 1930, where he was one of ten children.

Eddie was a selfless gentle soul, he left high school before completing his graduation and went to the Korean War to serve his country. When he returned, he married his late bride of 64 years, Evelyn (Roderick) Mendes. His love spoke volumes through their life long journey together, in the joy of their union, children, and grandchildren, in the sorrow of pain, illness and death, and primarily his love of God and His promise of life everlasting.

He will truly be missed and his memory will live on through his Family and friends. He is survived by his children Edward Mendes Jr. & Lisa Stewart; siblings: James Mendes, Leonard Mendes and Clara (Mendes) DeBarros all of Cape Cod. Grandchildren: Edward Mendes, III, Naomi Mendes, Nicole Stewart, Monique Stewart, Ninamarie Mendes, Dominique Stewart and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy (Mendes) Johnson, Jenny (Mendes) Pina, John Mendes, Leno Mendes, Richard Mendes and the recent passing of Mary (Mendes) DeLuz.

Visiting hours are at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St, Marshfield, Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 4 – 8pm.

Funeral services at Crossroads Worship Center, 241 Broad Street, Weymouth, MA, Friday, April 17, 2015 at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Couch Cemetery, Union St, Marshfield.
