Eileen O'Neill Byrne, of Green Harbor passed away on July 6, 2022 at the age of 74. She was the beloved wife of John Byrne; loving mother of Neil Sullivan and his wife Tamara of Bermuda Dunes, CA, Patrick Sullivan of Marshfield, Kelly Solomon and her husband Mark of Seymour, CT, Lisa Byrne and her husband Mark Abboud of Yarmouthport, Kevin Byrne of Carver, Betsy Ward and her husband Chris of Pembroke, and Joanna Ventola and her husband Richard of Hanover; cherished grandmother of Ben and Kellen Sullivan, Caitlin and Shealeigh Sullivan, Abby and Jack Solomon, Maxwell and Eve Abboud, Brendan Byrne, Meaghan, Joseph and Michael Ward, and Jack, Andrew, and Anna Ventola.
Eileen was born on April 17,1948 to Geraldine and Thomas O'Neill at St Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She attended Prince Elementary School in Boston, graduated from Waltham High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Bridgewater State University, majoring in English with a German minor, a degree which she carried through her adulthood in all her travels!
Eileen taught English for a short time before starting a family with three children born from her first marriage of 19 years to Robert Sullivan: Neil, Patrick and Kelly. Eileen remarried to John Byrne in 1988 and remained in wedded bliss for 37 years.
Eileen was a proud store owner at Buckles & Boards Ski and Surf for over 42 years. She ran endless weekend ski trips in New England for all the local skiers and yearly ski excursions to Austria for those yearning more adventure.
Eileen was the most incredible travel agent, planning dozens of trips for other customers to ski and her most favorite, personal travel to European countries with her husband John, friends and cherished family. She always held a soft spot for Ireland, from where her family originated.
Eileen was always up for nearly any adventure, one of the most energetic, fun loving and friendly people to know. When not working or traveling, Eileen's passion was gardening with her husband John. Together they created one of the most spectacular backyard gardens in Green Harbor.
Eileen loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking the opportunity to travel with them and pass along her knowledge of culture and history.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield.
