With heavy hearts and a life well lived, we share the Celebration of Life for our daughter Elana Grace Korey of Duxbury, MA. In the early morning hours of Sunday July 28th, 2024 Elana did not pass away, she was lifted by the hands of God into the almighty heavens and our family awaits the day to reunite with her.
Elana awaits her beloved brothers; Alex and Luke, her mother Alice, and her father Robert in the heavens above. She is additionally remembered by her loving extended family in Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. She was preceded in passing by her childhood beloved family pets: Marley, Iggy, and Miller. She further leaves behind her childhood cat, Whiskers, Tyrone our rescued Texas tortoise, and her puppy, Ollie, her "angel" as she lovingly referred to.
In the days and weeks prior: Elana enjoyed dinners, cookouts, movies, boat rides, beach walks, sunsets, walking Ollie along the trails, teaching Ollie to swim in the cranberry bogs and ocean, summer break cross country trip back home with dad, salted pretzels, maple candy, and ice cream stops with her family.
Elana was born in Marietta, GA. For nearly 15-years Alice, her mother, was a proud stay-at-home mom to Elana and her two brothers to prioritize Team Korey. They shared priceless moments to witness Elana's first baby steps, mother's morning out, ballet, playgroups, art, music, and most of all being a goodhearted soul. She loved exploring nature and had a knack finding rollie pollies each summer. Elana was a god given animal whisperer by stopping and noticing mother nature's small wonderous details… a snail, a beetle in the forest, a butterfly, a fallen acorn, and catching a magical snowflake.
Following, Elana attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in a beautiful Missouri rural community. She enjoyed evening golf carts rides with her dog Miller and family. We can close our eyes and still see and feel the magic with thousands of lightning bugs illuminating the open straw fields as the moon glistens on the horizon. Mom and dad pop holes in the lid as she carefully filled a jar to sit by her bedside. Elana put her feet to work with dance, Cupid's Ball, and when Dad put the 'ole tiger tail off the back of the truck to see a few SEC Footballs games… at Miz-Zou, sparking her dream to attend a big SEC school for college. Elana accomplished anything she put her mind to. Close friends introduced Steamboat Springs, CO which unknowingly became a sacred family Christmas skiing tradition and now priceless memories.
Next, Elana and family moved "deep into the heart of Texas" enjoying Friday Night Lights of Katy, TX. Made lifelong friends she would later reunite with in college. Elana enjoyed summer camps, continued dance, saving turtles along the bayou community trails, "Otter's" summer swim team, and biking to school.
Elana enjoyed Duxbury, MA spending time at the beach, sunsets, cherished her love of animals working with corgis for many years, supporting Unified Track, trips to Canada, Patriots Championship parade with her dad, and carrying on the legendary Team Korey Christmas tradition of ski trips across the New England mountains.
Elana will be graduating with an Honorary Posthumous degree from the University of Arkansas in May 2025 with her brothers and family walking in her honor. She loved the UARK campus, friends, AOII sisterhood, and SEC gamedays.
The family has created the foundation "Ollie's Angels" as a legacy to honor and continue to spread Elana's magic, love, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Elana's legacy: https://ollies-angels.org/
Celebration of Life will be open to the community on Friday August 30th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Duxbury Bay Maritime School, please join to show Elana the love we all have for this precious girl.
We are thankful for the outpouring of love,
