Eleanor M. (Cummings) Chaplin, formerly of Marshfield passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the age of 94. Daughter of the late Alfred and Isabella (Newbon) Cummings. Beloved wife of the late Charles R. Chaplin Sr. (Ret MPD) of 72 years, loving mother of Maureen Whittles and her late husband Thomas of Melbourne FL, Charles R. Chaplin Jr., of Fort Meyers, FL, Edward Chaplin and his wife Treva of North Palm Beach, FL, Deborah C. Hoban and her husband Michael of Marshfield and predeceased by daughter Charlene M. Chaplin and son Gerard R. Chaplin. Predeceased by her brothers Alfred and Edward Cummings.
Cherished grandmother to Michelle and Marc Whittles, Charlene Dineen, Kristen and Michael Hoban, Bobby, Cory and Kali Chaplin, Mathew, Madison and Chance Chaplin, and great-grandmother of Grace, Asa, Eleanor, Theodore, Hannah, Margaret, Rinna, James and Conor.
Eleanor (Ellie) was originally from Marlboro and graduated from Saint Elizabeth Hospital in 1949 before moving to Marshfield. After raising her children with the love of her life Charlie, she returned to work as the Director of Nurses at South Shore Nursing Homes in both Rockland and Pembroke before retiring to Key West Florida. Retirement did not last long as she returned to work for Hospice of the Florida Keys. She absolutely loved her job and from the words of her employer, patients and their families she was caring, compassionate, comforting and strong.
Ellie's St Elizabeth fellow graduates were her most cherished friends throughout her life. She loved hosting summer get-togethers with friends and endless pool parties with her children with their friends as well as her grandchildren. She loved her family, work, volunteering, dancing, knitting and gardening,
A Memorial service will be held at St. Christine Parish Church October 7, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL., Memphis TN 38105-1905 or online at https://www.stjude.org/
