Gavaza, Eleanor M. (Ames), of Marshfield, February 7, 2016. Born on June 13, 1926 in Quincy, Ellie was the beloved wife of the late George V. Gavaza Jr., and the oldest of six children, now joining her two brothers Edward and Donald Ames, and sister Michelle Vintzileos. She is survived by two sisters, Alberta Johnston and Rosemary Horky and her husband Robert; three sons, George Gavaza and his wife Suzi, Paul Gavaza and his wife Joanne, David Gavaza and his wife Nancy; granddaughter, Victoria Gavaza and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Ellie was an animal lover and talented artist who enjoyed capturing the beauty of the South Shore and Cape Cod, painting with local art associations. In her younger years she befriended and helped people in need, most of whom were seniors. She generously cared for a neighbor suffering from MS and a home bound elderly neighbor among others. Ellie used to say, "Do a good deed for a Senior in need". She passed away at the Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate, and her family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff there who cared for her so well.
Ellie had suffered from Alzheimer's/Dementia and in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to a charity dedicated to finding a cure would be appreciated.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) Marshfield. Interment will be in Couch Cemetery.
