Obituary

Elizabeth (Penny) Testa of Marshfield, MA, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born in Gloucester, MA, on June 6, 1949, Penny moved to Weymouth as a child. She graduated from the Boston Trade School for Girls in 1968, embarking on a career in cosmetology. A talented hairdresser, she worked at various salons across the South Shore and was always happy to provide haircuts for her circle of family and friends.

Penny later transitioned into education as a dedicated teacher's aide, where she excelled at supporting classroom teachers and mentoring students. Her commitment to her community was further evidenced by her work as a crossing guard and safety officer for Governor Winslow Elementary School, a role she performed with immense pride and care.

On June 20, 1971, Penny married her adoring husband, Carl, in Weymouth. Together, they raised two children: their son, John, and their daughter, Jeannette. Penny was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother known for her refreshing honesty and "tell it like it is" spirit.

A woman of many passions, Penny was a master of crochet, often teaching others the craft. Her handmade sweaters continue to bring warmth to infants and toddlers across the country. An avid gardener with an encyclopedic knowledge of plants, she also found peace sitting by her koi pond with Carl, feeding and naming their fish. Above all, Penny was a true "sun goddess" who found her greatest joy and comfort in the warmth of the sun.

Penny is survived by her husband, Carl; her children, John and Jeannette; her grandchildren, Aran, Raymond, Roan, and Robert; and her sister, Corrine.
