Ellsworth Morrison Brown II, of Marshfield Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, November 27, 2023 at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Willemstein Brown, with whom he was married for 57 years until her passing in June 2010.
Born in Newark and raised in Union, New Jersey, Ellsworth was the first of five boys of the late Ellsworth Morrison Brown Sr. and Vivian Pender. He worked at a young age to support his parents and four brothers while in school. He was a Veteran having enlisted and served in the US Army. Proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). It was during this time that he would meet his future wife, Helen.
Ellsworth and Helen soon started a family of their own living in Summit, New Jersey. His career began as a General Motors engineer. Later, he joined Conover-Mast Publishing in New York City until moving to Boston with Cahners Publishing Company from which he retired in the early 1990s as a Group Vice President and Director. After retirement, he devoted much of his newfound free time to his adult children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a rich and rewarding retirement.
He is survived by his brothers Alan and Kenneth Brown, his son Ken Brown of Riviera Beach, Florida, daughter Karen Brown-Odabashian of Walnut Creek, California, and Kathy Brown Smith of Marshfield, Massachusetts, as well as his seven grandchildren Cameron Smith, Taylor D. Smith, Deirdre Delgado, Heather Odabashian, Sheena Odabashian, Jessa Odabashian, and Maria Erwin and one great-grandchild Hunter Delgado, along with twelve nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, with burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
