Elzear A. "Pete" Tanguay passed away on August 1, 2021 at the age of 100. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Tracey) Tanguay; loving father of Mark Tanguay and his wife Karen of Sagamore Beach; and cherished grandfather of Kali Tanguay. Son of the late Ernest and Marie (Renaud) Tanguay, he is predeceased by 16 brothers and sisters and leaves many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A proud Navy Veteran of WWII and public school teacher, Pete was a loving, good natured man always with a smile on his face. He loved his family, teaching, coaching baseball, and learning new languages. He travelled often and enjoyed France, Italy, Bermuda, and Fort Myers Beach. Pete's favorite place was the local library, where he talked more than he read, but his greatest pleasure was being Grampie to his only grandchild Kali. Pete was also a devout Catholic, who served as head usher on the parish council. He enjoyed his home overlooking the ocean, sitting on his porch with a cold one and talking to all who went by. He is loved and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, with calling hours from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield, followed by a funeral procession to St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's memory can be made to the Ventress Memorial Library, 1837 Ocean Street, Marshfield MA 02050.
