Emery Aldei Langlois, 83, of Humarock passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Jeanette (Hayden) Langlois.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Romeo and Roseanna Langlois of New Bedford, MA and husband to the late Maria Balbina (Abreu) Langlois of New Bedford, MA. He was also father to the late Rosemarie (Langlois) Machado of New Bedford, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jeanette, whom he adored. He leaves nine beloved children; Michael Langlois of New Bedford, Andrew Langlois of Elizabeth City, NC, Edward and Kathy Langlois of Birdsboro, PA, Angela and "Mac" McCarty of Uxbridge, MA, Celeste Langlois and Randy of Blackstone, MA, McKinley Black of Berlin, Germany, Fred and Kristyne Hayden of Merrimack, NH, Adam and Nancy Hayden of Weston, CT, and Daniel and Razia Hayden of Massachusetts. He was a loving Pépère to his grandchildren; Corinne Degregorio of New Jersey, Drew, Jonathan, and Isaac Langlois of North Carolina, Christopher and Nathan Langlois of Birdsboro, PA, Joshua Small and Justin Langlois of New Bedford, Jordan Machado of Sommerville, Morgan McCarty of Uxbridge,MA, Candace Langlois of Blackstone,MA, Courtney and Alex Hayden of NH, Henry, Griffin, and Owen of CT, and Rhona and Zinc of MA. He also leaves 9 great-grandchildren; Jade, Travis, Chance, Kaydence, Isabella, Kaliegh, Ryker, Carli, and Nicolas. He is also survived by so many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that all loved him dearly.
He was a Veteran of these great United States, serving time in Germany as a PFC Private First Class. His patriotic feeling never faltered and he always made sure there was "flag-flying" music on the third and fourth of July at family parties.
After completing his service in the Army, Emery Langlois went back to high school (while working a full time job) and at the age of 29, with a wife and five children, he graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School and received his high school diploma. He was extremely proud of that accomplishment. He went on to become a drafter at General Dynamics and worked there for many years. After leaving General Dynamics, he opened several diners (mostly named Emery's) and tried his hand at several other career opportunities. However, he ended up right back at General Dynamics where he retired in 2001 after a combined total of 25+ years.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, singing, reading, making pizza, and most importantly for him, worshiping the Lord. He loved to cook and in his diners he enjoyed feeding people and sharing a story or two. He and Jeanette had great gardens when they lived in Duxbury and although he tried, he couldn't repeat his green thumb success on the beach of Humarock. He enjoyed helping Jeanette with her many craft projects often times being the one that cut her wooden fish or whatever else she needed. He was one to encourage others while offering a realistic viewpoint and he always loved with his whole heart.
While his presence here on earth has ended and the loss of him will sadden many for quite some time, he would want us all to find strength and peace in the knowledge that he served the Lord in life and he is with him in death. "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." John 11:25-26
His memorial will be held on Monday, July 16 at North River Community Church, 334 Old Oak Street, Pembroke, MA at 10:30am. To send a tribute or remembrance to the family, go to www.macdonaldfuneralhome.com.
