Obituary

Jackson, Eugene B., 92, long time resident of North Marshfield, beloved husband of the late Constance (Cordice) Jackson for over 50 years.

Born in Portland, Maine, where he attended high school, before entering the U.S. Army's famed 301st Fighter Squadron, known as the Tuskegee Air Squadron, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Jackson and his fellow Tuskegee Airmen were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for their heroic service. Their distinguished record was an important factor in initiating social change to achieve racial equality in America. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 and again in defense of America from 1950 to 1951.

Eugene was an engineering graduate of Boston University and was a retired maker of pulmonary and respiratory equipment.

Eugene was a proud Master Mason, having been raised to the third degree by the Grand Master in Portland, Maine, who remembered and lived its ritual in his daily life.

The Town of Marshfield celebrated a "Eugene Jackson Day" on November 10, 2012.

Eugene loved his dear wife Connie. Together they enjoyed world travels and their years summering at their cottage in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, and were season ticket holders to their beloved Celtics. He was a long time member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of North Marshfield.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland Street, Marshfield. Burial will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
