Obituary

Ford J. Goodsell of Marshfield, MA passed away on June 1, 2020 at the age of 61. Beloved son of Patricia and Frederic Goodsell, he will be missed greatly by his mother, his brother Jay and nephew Greg of Marshfield, and brother David, sister in-law Lori, and niece Hannah, also of Marshfield.

We remember him as a loving son, a giving brother, and doting uncle who treasured time with his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than to be with his family for holidays, reunions, cookouts, and Sunday dinners. He would often spend hours in the kitchen preparing a special dish to share at these events – an intricate process that always consumed every pot, pan, and plate the cupboard would surrender.

When Ford wasn't in the kitchen making spaghetti sauce, corn chowder, or one of his many other secret recipes, he loved spending time in the garden, where he would grow the vegetables that would become the ingredients for many of these meals. And even though Ford was adamant that he didn't care for the taste of fish, he enjoyed fishing and liked spending early mornings at his favorite spots around Marshfield.

He was a full-fledged fan of the New England Patriots. Ford looked forward to every game and never missed a play. Whether he was there in person or watching from home, he celebrated every win and suffered every loss with great personal passion.

Ford loved to dance. He loved to laugh. He wanted nothing more than to make people happy. He leaves behind many lifelong friends who remember him as a caring and generous soul who was always willing to help: "He was one of the good guys," "A good friend who had a way of making you forget your problems," and "Heaven wins a good one," are just a few of the many loving tributes they shared in the hours after his passing.

Our family will miss, our son, our brother, and our uncle Ford, but he leaves behind many wonderful memories that we will forever treasure in hearts. Godspeed on your journey, Ford.

Due to current conditions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Ford's memory can be made to MSPCA-Angell by visiting the website https://www.mspca.org/ or by mail to 350 Huntington Ave, Boston MA 02130.
