Obituary

Fr. Stephen M. Boyle, beloved Pastor of St. Christine Parish Church of Marshfield, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2022 at the age of 56. He was the cherished brother of John V. Boyle and wife Michele of Weymouth, Brian R. Boyle and wife Frances of Reading, Paul F. Boyle and wife Susan of Norwell, and Patricia L Boyle of Weymouth and dear uncle of Christopher and wife Jacqueline, Michael, Patrick, Meghan, and Samantha. He also leaves his beloved canine companions Buddy, Coco, and Gizmo, but was met at the Rainbow Bridge by the late Gracie, Rocky, and Pokey.

Born and raised in South Boston, son of the late Vincent J. and Dorothy C. (Darling) Boyle, Stephen was a 1983 graduate of BC High School and attended Stonehill College prior to transferring to and graduating from UMass Boston. He then earned his Master of Divinity degree from St. John Seminary.

Fr. Steve served as Parish Priest at St. Francis Xavier Parish in South Weymouth, Immaculate Conception Parish of Malden and Medford, where he also served as Chaplain for the Malden Fire Dept., as Chaplain and Head of Campus Ministry for Emmanuel College of Boston, Incarnation Parish in Melrose, St. Joseph Parish in Quincy, and at St. Christine Parish in Marshfield.

Fr. Steve was proud of his Irish heritage and held dual citizenship in America and Ireland. A true humanist and animal lover, he was dedicated to serving his congregants and sharing God's love with all.

Funeral Services will be held at the Gate of Heaven Church located at 615 E. 4th Street in South Boston. Fr. Steve will lie in state on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in the Cedar Grove Cemetery of Dorchester.
