Francesca A. (Aimola) Barr, a long-time resident of Duxbury, passed away on September 9. 2021 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Michael V. Barr; loving mother of Sharon MacAllister and her husband Robert of Duxbury and Michele Canan and her husband David of North Reading; cherished grandmother of Ian MacAllister (wife Jennifer), Jillian Taglione (husband Carmine), Drew Canan (wife Kerri), Blair Letellier (husband Andrew), and great-grandchildren Tristan, Scarlett and Sawyer, Isabella and Olivia, and Kaia and Kingsley; dear sister of the late Armando, Anthony, Adolph, and Frederick Aimola, Adeline Sachetti, and Rachel Aimola. Sister-in-law of Esther Aimola.
Born and raised in Quincy, Fran married the love of her life, Michael Barr, at the age of 17. They moved to Braintree where they raised their family and through hard work, he as a General Contractor and she as an employee of Raytheon and then Dymo Industries, were able to build a wonderful life together. After her daughters left home and began starting families of their own, Fran and Mike moved to Duxbury where they lived for 29 years before making their winter home in Palm City, FL their primary residence. They continued to summer in Duxbury until Mike's death in 2013 whereupon Fran moved to North Reading to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Being from a large and close Italian family, Fran continued the traditions that were such a large part of her early life. An excellent cook, the holidays were special occasions with another opportunity to spoil her two daughters, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She easily made friends and had many. She will be missed dearly.
