Francis Louis Alconada

Frank Alconada of Marshfield, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2026. He was 93 years old.

Frank was born on February 23, 1933 in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Dorothea (Strecker) Alconada–and spent his childhood and young adult life in Jamaica Plain. After graduating from Jamaica Plain High School in 1951, Frank was drafted into the Army and spent most of his service in Berlin, Germany. After being discharged from the Army, Frank was hired by GTE Sylvania where he would work until his retirement in 1993. It was at GTE Sylvania that he met the love of his life, Patricia Flaherty. After a short, long-distance courtship while Frank worked for GTE Sylvania in the Marshall Islands on the Kwajalein Atoll, the couple married in 1968 and lived in Peabody, Massachusetts. They moved to Medway, Massachusetts in 1969 where they raised their family until retiring to Marshfield in 2011.

Frank was well-known in Medway where he helped start the Youth Soccer Program, was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, and was a lifetime member, and onetime president, of the Medway Lions Club. As a Lion, Frank started and ran the Bottle & Can Collection for many years and was a regular salesperson at the Lions’ annual Christmas Tree Sale.

Frank was a lifelong athlete who loved playing volleyball and softball, and regularly bowled and golfed with his brothers and friends. He also loved golfing with Pat, and they spent many summers at the Inn at Poland Springs, Maine golfing and enjoying all the area had to offer.

In his free time Frank loved spending time with family and friends. He could be found most weekday mornings having coffee with friends at June’s Place in Medway.

Frank will be remembered by all as a steadfast fan of all Boston sports teams, but first and foremost of the Red Sox, instilling his love for the team in his children and even bringing them to a World Series Game in 1986. More than that, he will be remembered for his kindness, his patience, his willingness to help anyone, and his irrepressible sense of humor.

Predeceased by his parents, his older brother Joseph Alconada and his wife Barbara (Hough), and his younger brother Paul Alconada, Frank is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Patricia (Flaherty) Alconada; his children, Tammy Bozza and her husband Thomas, Scott Alconada and his wife Destiny Green, and Nicole Alconada and her partner Jason Richardson; his grandchildren, Julia Bozza, Colin Bozza, Brittany (Neeland) Loveland and her husband Seth, and Keagan (Neeland) Wry and her husband Greg; his great grandchildren Aubrey Wry, Sienna Wry, and Lexi Loveland; his brother John (Jack) Alconada, his brother in-law Timothy Flaherty, and his sisters-in law Judith (Spellman) Alconada, Deborah (Flaherty) Farrell, and Bette (Tammick) Flaherty; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family is extremely grateful for the many angels who helped care for Frank over the last several months including Dr. Joseph Harrington, Marshfield Veterans’ Agents Carin and Lisa, Tina, Yvela, and Marilyn from The Kind Hearted Caregiver, Heidi from Beacon Hospice, and the Marshfield EMTs.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of MacDonald Funeral & Cremation Care Services in Marshfield, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank’s Funeral Mass on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Marshfield, MA. Following the Mass, Frank will be interred in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 12:45 p.m.
