SCITUATE, MA — Frank J. Cunning, Jr., 70, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026.

Born on April 10, 1956, Frank was the beloved son of the late Frank J. and Virginia M. Cunning.

Frank is survived by his loving siblings: Lynda Allen and her husband, Mark Allen; Michael Cunning and Sandy Scott; Sharon Perfetti and her husband, Chris Perfetti; and Brian Cunning. He also leaves behind six beloved nieces and nephews, who brought him great joy and affectionately called him "Half a Day," a nickname lovingly given to him by his father that remained a cherished part of their family, as well as five great-nephews.

Born with cerebral palsy, Frank lived with remarkable determination, never allowing his disability to define him or stand in the way of living the life he wanted to live. He always did his best to keep up with his siblings and friends, regardless of the activity, facing life with resilience, quiet determination, and a generous spirit.

Frank grew up in Marshfield Hills and graduated from Marshfield High School. While in high school, he worked at Sullivan Tire, where he discovered his passion for automotive repair. He eventually began repairing vehicles from his parents' garage, building a reputation for his skill, generosity, and willingness to help others. No matter how many cars were already waiting in the driveway, Frank rarely turned anyone away.

He later founded FASTOW (Frank's Auto Service Towing), providing towing services for the Marshfield Police Department. Whether the call came during the day or in the middle of the night, Frank could always be counted on to respond and lend a helping hand.

Outside of work, Frank treasured spending time with his family and never passed up an opportunity to join a spirited game of UNO. He also enjoyed snowmobiling in Maine and loved visiting Disney World, where he created many cherished memories with those he loved.

Around the age of 60, Frank's family began noticing changes in his health, and he was diagnosed with dementia. For two years, his brother Michael and Sandy, lovingly cared for Frank in their home. When his care needs became greater than they could manage, Frank became a resident of Cardigan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scituate, where he spent the last eight years of his life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff, who cared for Frank as though he were one of their own. Their kindness, dedication, and unwavering support will never be forgotten.

Frank will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, unwavering determination, and the example he set by living life to the fullest despite life's challenges. Those who knew him will also remember his piercing blue eyes and the beautiful smile that could light up a room. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 beginning with visiting hours from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield. From there, the funeral procession will travel to St. Christine Parish Church in Marshfield, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Couch Cemetery in Marshfield.
