Coppenrath, Frederick J., "Gramps" of Marshfield, passed away on October 9, 2017 at the age of 91. Son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Scannell) Coppenrath, Fred was the beloved husband of 65 years of Anne; dear father of Michele and Denise of Marshfield, Donna of Plymouth, Kerriann Amaru of Derry, NH, Frederick "Buddy" and his wife Susan, Capt. Leonard , M.S.P., Jon and his wife Richelle, Heidi Conway and her husband Brian all of Marshfield, Carl of Dennis, MA, Matthew and his wife Cheryl, Rachael Coppenrath- Latta and her husband Michael of Marshfield, and Joshua of Weymouth; grandfather of Michael Coppenrath-Reid, Greer and Garrett Amaru, Ashley, Allison, Ethan, Sarah, Emily, Molly, Isabella, Jonny and Sophia Coppenrath, Anna, Rachael, Augustus and Frederick Conway, Lilli, Ann Alice, Catherine Coppenrath, Jacob and Duncan Latta, Dylan and Jude Coppenrath, great-grandfather of Bella, Francesca, Anthony, Adelina, and Sage; brother of late Dorothy Armstrong and her husband David and the late Monsignor Leonard Coppenrath; uncle of Paul and Leonard Armstrong. Frederick also leaves his canine companion, Boulder.
Born and raised in Roslindale, Frederick moved to Green Harbor where he and his wife Anne raised their twelve children. A WWII Veteran, lifelong carpenter and one of the Founding Fathers of Marshfield Youth Hockey, he was a devoted family man, including grandfather and great grandfather, friend and coach.
Fred will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and friends, his heart of gold, willingness to help anyone at any time, and his fun-loving spirit. A true gentleman, his presence was unparalleled.
We will forever miss his powerful handshakes, warm heart and loving embraces. He was truly one of a kind.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at 1:45 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
