Frederick W. Kempton Jr., 67 of Marshfield passed away on September 13th, 2024, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a long battle with health issues. Rick was born in Boston to the late Frederick (Sr.) and June (Madill) Kempton.

Rick is survived by his children Jonathan and Kattie of Marshfield, Jennifer Kempton and Jeff Klein of Rockland, Travis Harlow (Ashley) of Avon, older sisters Gail Garside and Debbie and Steve McCauley both of Marshfield and younger brother Wayne Kempton of West Palm Beach, FL. Rick had 9 grandchildren: Ashleigh, Payton, Logan, Declan, Greyson and Landon Kempton, Christina and Cody Klein, and Edwin Harlow. Rick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Rick was a graduate of Marshfield High School (1975). After graduation he enlisted in the US Army. Upon being medically discharged, he went to work for Boston Whaler. Rick spent some time working as an Assistant Harbor Master and volunteer Firefighter for Marshfield and finished his career as a Marshfield Police Officer for 28 years.

Rick was many things, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, public servant, and he always loved helping people in need.  He was passionate about motorcycles and was an avid rider since he was a teenager. Rick will be remembered by those that knew him for his integrity and honesty, his easy manner, broad knowledge and his lifelong curiosity about so many things.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Burial will be private.
