Bennett, George J. Jr. "Uncle", of Marshfield, passed away on January 24, 2016 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Saya) Bennett. Loving companion of Deborah A. Oliva. Dear father of Charlene Moore and her husband Shawn of Weymouth, Steven Bennett and his wife Linda of Walpole, David Bennett and his wife Joanne of Jamaica Plain, and Rachel Duffy and her husband Michael of Braintree. Grampy of Sarah and Kevin Moore, Hannah and Mia Bennett, Jackson and Meghan Duffy. Brother of Marion and the late Peter Easson of Live Oak, TX. Brother in-law of Francis Horne and Julie Doherty. Uncle of many nieces and nephews, George also leaves many friends at his daily stops.

George was born in Medford, grew up in Dorchester, raised his four children in Weymouth and eventually retired to his favorite "parish" in Green Harbor. George was honored to serve in the USMC during the cold war. He was proud to say he worked for the International Association of Iron Workers Local 7 in South Boston. He was a dedicated member of the GHYC, Elks Lodge #2494, and the Duxbury American Legion Post #223. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many close friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139), Marshfield. Funeral from the funeral home Friday, January 29 at 9:00 for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield.
