George A. Burgess, of Plymouth, (formerly of Marshfield) passed away on July 1, 2018 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Punnee "Penny" (Sangruttana) Burgess of Plymouth; loving father of Jay Burgess and wife Kimberlee of Hopkinton, NH, Jennifer Burgess of Natick, and Malisa (Brown) Schuyler and husband Andrew of Melrose; He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Cameron, Lincoln, and Alexandra and former wife and life-long friend, Mary Jane (Woodland) Burgess. He is predeceased by his loving sister Karen L. Baker, also of Marshfield.

George grew up in Newton with his family and a lifelong crew of friends where he built fond memories scouting around Norumbega Park and pursuing his automotive passion rebuilding classic Roadsters and Corvettes.

He was happiest close to the sea and enjoyed every day as Harbormaster for the Town of Marshfield, where he served for more than a decade.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) Marshfield.
