George J. Dardis, 73, of Plymouth, formerly of Marshfield, succumbed to his long battle with cancer on Wednesday December 7, 2016. Beloved husband of Gail ( Davenport) Dardis for 49 years, proud father of Matt Dardis and his wife Lynn of Harmony RI, and Michael Dardis of Plymouth. He is the son of the deceased Margaret (Horgan) and George Dardis of Somerville and brother of the deceased Ann McNeill of Somerville. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A former employee of EDS and the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston, he retired in 2008. George will be remembered for his quiet manner, quick wit, kindness to others, a love of travel, reading," mystery rides", piano music, Sunday crosswords, cards, photography, and gathering for breakfast with childhood friends. He was a simple man, with simple needs and pleasures. He knew the meaning of faithfulness, loyalty and love through difficult and joyful times.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the North River Community Church, 334 Old Oak Street in Pembroke. Interment will be private.
