Obituary

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce that George Earle, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully at home. He is survived by Brenda, his loving wife of 29 years. George was the cherished son of the late William and Ethel Earle and the son in law of Edward and the late Marion Holland. He was the loving father of Chrissy Earle Doyle, George W, the late Denise Earle and the late Jean Earle. He was also a beloved brother to the late Pauline Earle and is survived by his sister Rita Earle Webster. He was the brother in law to the late Thelma "TJ" Judge.

George was born in Boston and in raised in Quincy. At 17 years old he went on to join the United States Air Force, where he served from 1959-1965. While in the Air Force, George was a Payload specialist during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis (The Bay of Pigs). One of his fondest memories during this time was being able meet the late president JFK.

Returning home from the Air Force, he was a self-employed mechanic until he moved to Marshfield in the early 70's. Once in Marshfield, he became much more than just a resident; he became a lifelong friend to many and a pillar in the community. George helped hundreds of Veterans receive their benefits, was a Commander of the American Legion Post 88, Charter member of the Marshfield DAV, lifetime member of the VFW, Amvets, and the Elks Lodge, and was also a voluntary veterans advocate for 45+ years.

George was the loving grandfather to Nicholas, Denny, James, Danielle, and Ian. A very beloved uncle to Bobby, Billy, Michelle, Billy, Kristen, Sean, Frank, Mellisa, Rachael, Charlie, Tyler, and Kelsea. He was the proud great uncle to Katrina, Nicholas, Heather, David, Pauline, Zachary, Kiera, Maddison, Camilla, Thomas, and Harlow.

He took the most pride in his job as the president of Marshfield Community Christmas and being a Veterans adjutant. George was such a selfless person who loved nothing more than helping others in need. He was able to help hundreds upon hundreds of families during the holidays. This is where his nickname "Father Christmas" came from.

George is the only Marshfield resident to be named citizen of the year twice and had November 12th named "George Earle day" after him. He took such pride living in the town of Marshfield, he would always say helping others and his wife are what kept him going.

When he wasn't helping others, you could find George with his "hunny" Brenda taking rides around town, checking out local yard sales, and going on dinner dates. He enjoyed watching old black and white movies or shows at night. He was an avid animal lover of all kinds but especially for his own cats which he considered his fur babies.

Those who were lucky enough to know George knew him as the sweetest soul who just loved bringing other people joy. If you would like to honor George you can donate to Marshfield Community Christmas or he would love if you did something kind for someone in his memory.
