George G. Roth, Jr. age 88 of Marshfield passed away peacefully on May 20, 2020. George, better known as Red to family and friends was born and raised in Brookline, MA spending his summers in Marshfield. After graduating from Brookline High School George enlisted in the Airforce where he met his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Wiesen Roth in Kansas. He raised his family in Marshfield travelling to Brookline daily to work at the family store Roth's Meat Market.
George leaves behind children; George and wife Judy of Plymouth, Chris of Marshfield, Karen Pendergast of Boston and Greg of Boston. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Courtney Roth Clark and her four children; Melissa, George and Jessica Roth; Gretchen and Christopher Roth; Jacquelyn, Jeremy and Kerri-Anne Pendergast; his brother and best friend Kenneth Roth of Marshfield and his sister Martha Zayko of Marshfield as well as many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his son Kevin Roth, sisters Mary Hankey and Carol Costello of Marshfield and his brother Richard of New Jersey.
Upon retirement, he drove for the Marshfield Counsel on Aging where he enjoyed spending time with other members of his beloved community. He was a cherished member of the Assumption Church where he worshiped with his family every Sunday. Admired for his wit and sarcasm, Red was a lover of many things. Passions of Red's include: Spending summers at Rexham beach; teaching his children and later grandchildren how to ride the waves, having family cookouts, and bass fishing. Sports; playing golf (MCC 30 years), supporting his New England teams, and walking at the Marshfield Audubon Society with his wife, Pat.
Above all, George had a passion for life and truly cherished his family and community.
Due to current circumstances, the funeral services will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate George's life. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/
