Obituary

Sullivan, George Edward, 81, a long-time resident of Marshfield, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at The Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate. Beloved husband of the late Myrna B. Sullivan. Son of George and Anne Sullivan of South Boston. Father of George Sullivan and his wife Tammy of Ipswich, Kathie Turchetta and her husband Jay of Harvard, Deborah Sullivan of Bonita Springs, FL, Michael Sullivan and his wife Kate of Duxbury, Brian Sullivan and his wife Jen of Kingston, and special extended family member, Jim Meagher and his wife Heather of Hanover. Loving grandfather of Jordan Sheary and Geoffrey Sullivan, Jonathan, Lukas, Jake and Sophia Turchetta, Kaitlin, Matthew and Kiley Sullivan, Liam and Ava Sullivan, Brendan and Kiera Meagher.  Brother of Anne Hall (deceased) of Weymouth, and Mary Hanson (deceased) of Weymouth. George is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Born in 1937 in South Boston, George graduated from Gate of Heaven High School. He entered the US Navy in February 1956 and served until August 1959. George married Myrna in South Boston in 1959 and they moved to Marshfield where they settled and raised 5 children. George worked for over 30 Years at State Street Bank in Quincy and retired as a Vice President prior to moving to Bonita Springs, FL with Myrna.  Along with his State Street position George ran the Plymouth County All Stars Hockey program which eventually became the Bay State Sharks and subsequently the Bay State Breakers. George loved his Faith, his family and most especially hockey and The Boston Red Sox. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor.

Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 Marshfield on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Christine's Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at a later date in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Marshfield.
