Gerald F. Hamilton of E. Weymouth passed away on November 9, 2021 at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of Michele "Mickey" (Pomarico) and loving father of James Hamilton and his wife Michelle of Rockland, Peter Hamilton and his wife Diane of E. Bridgewater, Katherine "Kit" McCafferty and her husband Joseph of Whitman, Thomas Hamilton and his wife Kristen of Weymouth, the late Bernadette LeTendre. and son in-law Richard O. LeTendre of Attleboro; cherished grandfather of Patrick and Kelly, Zachary, Benjamin and Jonathan, Kyle, Brendan and George, Oscar, and Abigail, William, Isabella and Nathaniel, and great-grandfather of Bryson, Theodore, and Nora; dear brother of Kenneth and his wife Brenda Hamilton and Patricia and her husband Wayne Shook.
Born in Weymouth in 1936 to the late Harold C. and Helen F. (LeSage) Hamilton, Gerry's childhood was spent in Braintree and Dorchester until moving to Weymouth at the age of 16. He graduated from Weymouth High School, class of 1955, and served proudly in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, 38 th Parallel, with the Engineering Division, from 1956 to 1959. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for Electroswitch in Weymouth, where he met Mickey, the love of his life, with whom he would share a wonderful life and 62 years together. He then worked for Hanlon's Shoe Store in Quincy and finally as a Custodian with the Weymouth Public Schools, retiring after 20 years.
Gerry was devoted to his faith, his family, and his community. He served as a Troop Committee Member of Troop 2, Boy Scouts of America, Weymouth, where he was proud to be the first father to have 3 sons become Eagle Scouts. In his capacity as Eucharistic Minister for the Immaculate Conception Church Parish in East Weymouth for many years, he also worked with the Boy Scouts to earn their AD Alteri DEI Catholic Church Awards, and himself received his St. George Award. Gerry also served as President of the Weymouth Heights Club for 30 years.
A man of many talents, Gerry loved playing music with his family and friends. He was the drummer with the band "The Nova Nadas", playing for "people our age and up, and second weddings"! He also played with "The Hummers and the Strummers" and "The Hamiltones". No matter what the occasion, Gerry was most happy being with his large, close-knit family and friends.
All who knew and loved Gerry are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington Street in Weymouth. Burial, however, will be private.
