Obituary

Brant Rock, MA — Gerald "Gerry" Patrick Scanlon, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 9, 2025.

Born on November 23, 1957, in Boston, Gerry was a longtime resident of Brant Rock and the Marshfield area. He was known for his deep love of the ocean, animals, and his family, which brought him immense joy throughout his life.

A self-made man with a strong work ethic, Gerry put himself through Northeastern University, earning his degree in engineering. He built a successful career as an engineer, earning the respect of his colleagues and making lasting friendships. His determination and dedication were evident in both his professional and personal life.

Gerry was happiest by the water, enjoying the peace and beauty of the ocean. His compassion extended to all living things, especially animals, and he shared his home with his beloved dog, Bob, and cat, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alice Scanlon, and his brothers, John and Michael Scanlon.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 25 years, Claire Halpin, his daughter Dr. Jennifer Scanlon, his son Christopher Scanlon, and his brother Mark Scanlon. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters Kristienne Brandon, Danielle Knois, and Laura Amick, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and ten cherished grandchildren.

Honoring his wishes, Gerry will be cremated, and the family will hold a private celebration of his life.
