Gladys Ann (Melnick) Brazil of Sandwich, formerly of Marshfield, passed away on July 26, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife of the late William P. Brazil; devoted mother of Kathryn Brazil, the late David Brazil and his wife Beth, and Karen Dykas and her husband Kevin; cherished grandmother of Jason and Hannah Brazil, Christina Bonnet, Billy and Rebecca Dykas, and great-grandchildren Benoit and Caius Bonnet. Daughter of the late Charles and Ethelwyn Melnick, she was dear sister of Natalie Freeman and Ann Driscoll.

Gladys was born in Cambridge and a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin and the Children’s Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed a career as a Registered Nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital and as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Duxbury School System. She also enjoyed being a nanny to William and Lily Nolan.

Gladys will be remembered for her love of Cape Cod birds, the Canal, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Her family was her greatest joy. She cherished gatherings, holidays, and especially watching her great-grandsons play.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Church of Duxbury. Interment will be in the Mayflower Cemetery of Duxbury.
