Obituary

Gregory B. Clarke of Marshfield passed away on October 25, 2018 after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Althea M. (Kallipolites) Clarke and dear father of Michael Clarke of California, Thomas Clarke and his wife Kristina of Holden, David Arnold of Agawam, and Adam Arnold and his wife Jenny of California. Cherished grandfather of Colin, Anastasia, Brendan, and Emily, Greg also leaves his nieces Deborah Grohe and Laura Cattel and many beloved relatives and friends.

Greg graduated from Woburn High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science from UMASS Amherst, a Master's Degree in Food Science as a research assistant at University of Illinois, and a PhD in Food Science and NIH Research Training Fellow at University of Illinois, Urbana.  He enjoyed a long and distinguished career beginning at Michael Reese Hospital Medical Center, Chicago, IL, as a Research Associate and member of the Medical Research Council. Upon returning to Boston, he worked as a Staff Scientist at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology, Chief of Laboratory Medicine Service at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Jamaica Plain, and served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Greg enjoyed family, home, gardening and reading, trips to Disney World, and sharing with friends and neighbors his love of animals and exotic pets. He was lovingly called "Noah" at our little farm known as "Clarke's Ark" where all were welcome. He also brought many pets to schools and nursing homes, teaching and giving joy to many. Greg was a Mason at Solomon's Temple Lodge A.F.&A.M in Uxbridge, MA, serving as Worshipful Master from 1975 to 1977. Greg was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Duxbury where he served as lay Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 410 Washington Street in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg's memory can be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, memo column Building in Faith, mailing address P.O.
