Gregory L. Shea, of Marshfield, passed away after a brief illness on June 7, 2018 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of the late Melissa (Roosa) Shea; dear father of the late Brian Shea also of Marshfield. He is survived by his two grandchildren Alexus Shea and Christian Shea, both of Marshfield. Gregory is also survived by a very many nieces and nephews that he loved as if they were his own children.
Gregory was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War during the late 1960s, serving as a Machinist Mate on the Destroyer, USS William R. Rush. After his time in the U.S. Navy, Gregory returned to the Boston area and began a nearly 40-year combined career as a construction Sheet Metal Worker with the Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers Union and later in the early 1980s as a Sheet Metal Worker for the MBTA transit agency until his retirement. Gregory also once used his skills participating in the restoration of some of the historic World War II and 1950s era PCC trolley cars still in use on one the MBTA transit lines.
Gregory's favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends entertaining everyone with his keen sense of humor, putting a smile on everyone's face. His kind and generous nature knew no bounds as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to any friend or family member in need.
