Obituary

Manning, Helen (Pettit), of Marshfield, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away on August 11, 2016 at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Manning and dear mother of Robert O. Manning and his wife Jane of Florida, John P. Manning and his wife Ellen of Quincy, Jane Manning of Marshfield, and the late Frederick Manning of Maryland. Helen also leaves a daughter in-law, Ellen Manning of Maryland, grandchildren Kerry, Patrick, Robert, Michael, David, Suzanne, Joseph, and Deirdre, and 7 great grandchildren.

Helen was born in Boston and graduated from St. Gregory's High School in Dorchester. She enjoyed golf and painting and was a member of the Hyde Park Art Association for many years. An avid reader, Helen volunteered her time reading to the blind and was also a volunteer with the Hospice of Boston for 13 years.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal Street, Marshfield. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory can be given to a charity of your choice.
