Ms. Helen L. Wilson of Brant Rock, Marshfield passed away on September 4, 2026 at Accent Care Hospice of Milton at the age of 80. Helen was born in Westerly, Rhode Island to the late Edward and Dorothy Wilson. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Mary, who died in 1981.
After graduating high school Helen attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She graduated in 1966 with fellow classmates and actor Danny Devito. She tried acting in plays and became proficient in music as a classical pianist. After 10 years she decided to go back to school, this time to Nursing School, and received her BS/RN from Somerville Hospital in 1979. She worked for many years at Don Orione in Boston and locations in Plymouth and Medford and retired from nursing in 2020 after 41 years of working.
Helen exemplified remarkable courage and tenacity during her life. She was strong-willed, independent, opinionated, private, and had strong faith and zest for life. She enjoyed good food, good books, classical music, TikTok, lottery tickets, Gerard’s turkey sandwiches, playing her piano, and wearing the color pink.
A warm thank you to the Staff, Nurses and Clergy at Accent Care Hospice Center in Milton, where Helen spent her final days. You are all “Angels in Scrubs” who provided outstanding care.
Helen was a good and generous friend to all who knew her. We will miss her kindness, humor and loyalty. Helen’s legacy will be the annual Dorothy Wilson RN Scholarship Program she created that will help fund the higher education costs for two Marshfield high school students interested in pursuing a career in nursing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Regal Care Residence Council Fund, 200 Governor’s Ave, Medford, MA 02155, Attn: Chris Doyle.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 587 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
