Herbert J. Paul, of Marshfield, passed away on November 17, 2018 at the age of 70. Loving husband of 37 years to Janice (Chisholm) Paul, Herb was born and raised in Dorchester, son of the late Herbert O. and Gertrude L. Paul. Herb began working for Verizon after graduating from Cathedral High School and retired after completing 35 years of service with the company. After retirement, Herb began working for Judco, operating a school bus in charge of transporting children with special needs. Herb fell in love with these children; he would often attend their daily activities and they held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his beloved wife, Herb had many passions in life. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Red Sox and Patriots and was a long-time member of the L Street Running Club. He enjoyed the bond of friendship with his running friends "The Noontime Nuts". Herb ran in 5 Boston Marathons and competed in numerous other road races. He also found great peace just relaxing on the beach.

Herb was also passionate about his Irish Setter dogs and became very involved in the Irish Setter Club. Friends and family enjoyed being around Herb because of his kindness and his great sense of humor. He loved spending time with family and friends, and the holidays were always special.  Herb was an incredible man who lived life with integrity. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Janice, Herb leaves his cousins Karen Flynn of Hanover and Cheryl Flynn of Quincy; a nephew, Jonathan Eitas and a niece, Kristina Berian; his brother in-law Stephen Chisholm and sister in-law Joyce Casali; and many dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield. Funeral procession from the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
