Obituary

Howard R. Cupples of Marshfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 18, 2017 at the age of 93. Originally from Arkansas and later Louisiana and Mississippi he moved permanently to Massachusetts in 1954.

Howard was an avid outdoorsman, sports fan, talented carpenter, mechanic and devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Catherine (Reinold) Cupples, his four children; Linda Crowley and her husband John of Duxbury, Donald Cupples and his wife Janet of Marshfield, Wanda Baynes of Brockton and Ronald Cupples and his wife Gretchen of Easton.  He was the cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Howard turned down numerous university athletic scholarships to enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was one of the first to work on the development and launch of the then top secret sonar/radar for submarines.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA.  Burial with full military honors will be at the Winslow Cemetery in Marshfield immediately following.
