Hugh E. (Bubs) Mullen, 85 years old of Marshfield, passed away on July 28, 2024, after a brief illness.

Hugh was born in 1939 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Hugh E. and Edna (Orchard) Mullen.  He was raised in the Lower Mills neighborhood of Dorchester and after graduating from Newman Prep. served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  He then received a B.A. and Master's degree from Boston State College.  He was a teacher and coach in the Boston Public Schools for his entire career, beginning with the Russell School, Hyde Park High, Jamaica Plain High, the Woodrow Wilson and finishing at Snowden High School.

He operated Adams Antiques in Dorchester with his wife Ginny and was the former Chairman of the Board of Tremont Credit Union.

After retirement he and Ginny lived in Marshfield where they lived a life surrounded by family and friends, loved by everyone who knew them.

Hugh was predeceased by his wife Virginia and his parents, Hugh and Edna.  He is survived by his sister Joan, his sons Christopher of Marshfield, Michael and his wife Kathleen, and Kevin and his wife Amy, his daughters Julie, and Beth Donovan and her husband Michael, all of Dorchester.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily and fiancé Michael Yeakey, Sean, Edward, Brendan, Hayley, Christopher, Anna, Sarah, Michael and John and great-granddaughter Mia, and beloved in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield.
