Obituary

Jacqueline “Jackie” Osborne Young of Duxbury Massachusetts passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 98, surrounded by her family.

Jackie was the beloved wife of the late Allen Young. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Laurie and son-in-law Michael Gagné, and to her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Karen Young.

She was a proud grandmother to Tyler and his wife, Aliza Gagné; Heather and her husband, Johannes Weinberg; Lucas and his wife, Shannon Young; and Kelly Young and her fiancé, Joshua Hackett. She was also a loving great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren. Family was at the center of her life, and she took great joy in the lives and accomplishments of those she loved.

Jackie was a talented knitter, a hobby that let her share both her creativity and her care for others. She and Allen loved square dancing, and the companionship and fun it brought them. She took pride in her gardens, which were filled with flowers and vegetables. Her most cherished vacations were the summers spent with her family at the Button Cottages in Maine, where she could often be found floating on her beloved “River Rat” tube.

Over the course of her working life, Jackie was a secretary at Raytheon and later worked for the Duxbury and Pembroke school systems, where she was known as one of the fastest typists on the South Shore.

Jackie will be remembered for her long and full life, her devotion to family and friends, and the special memories she created with those around her. She leaves behind a loving family who will treasure her memory and carry her legacy forward. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in memory of Jacqueline Young be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, by mail to 320 Nevada Street, Suite 202, Newton, MA 02460 or online at https://www.alz.org/manh . Services will be private.
