Barry, James E. - November 17, 2019 passed away surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 57 years to Helen F. (Rooney) Barry. A devoted father, James was predeceased by his son James Edward Jr. (Jimmy-do) and is survived by his four daughters, Mariellen Barry Shields of Fl., Kristen Barry McNeil (Rich) of North Attleboro, Karen Barry (Nelson) of Marshfield and Jackie Barry (Michael) of Marshfield. Loving Grandfather of James, Micaela, Erica, Sophie, Ryan, Ella, Caelyn, and Ava. Great Grandfather of Aaden, Mason, Jackson and Killian. Loving brother of Gail (Barry) Hartman (Jerry) of Hull. Son of the late Edward D. and Helen S. (Perkins) of South Boston. Brother of the late Joan (Joannie) Bell, Lorraine (Rainie) Barry, Patrick (Paddy) Perkins, and Edward (Eddie) Barry. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jimmy was born and raised in Dorchester and South Boston. He graduated in 1952 from Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI. His yearbook reads Jimmy Barry (Jacques)- Easy going, easy coming. Has a twinkle in his artist eye, a confirmed comic. In his early years he was a Lineman for Bell Telephone Co. and the latter years owner of the Presidential Pub in Quincy and Bay View Liquor Distributing Company, South Boston.

He was a dedicated lifetime member of the Marshfield Yacht Club. He frequented Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida, over the past 30 years, a very special place he held close to his heart. One of his many passions was boating which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved a good storm, a good laugh and good people. A wise man who often offered advice when needed, was a wealth of knowledge, and had nothing but a genuine soul to say the least. He had an infectious smile and sense of humor that always went a long way. You will be deeply missed by all the lives you impacted, but heaven is so lucky to have you!

Visiting hours will be held Thursday November 21, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday November 22, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint Christine's Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield. Interment will be private.
