James (Jim) Francis Creed, 92, of Marshfield, MA died suddenly on Sunday February 6, 2022, surrounded by his children. He was born on August 23, 1929, in Boston to the late William C. Creed and Margaret McCarthy Creed.
Jim grew up in Dorchester and enjoyed a summer home in Green Harbor where he met his wife Anne, "Sis". The family moved to Marshfield when he was 16 and he graduated from Marshfield High School in 1948. He received his BS in Business from Boston College in 1964. Jim was devoted to his family and the town of Marshfield, where he served for 19 years as an elected Selectman, Assessor, and as a Trustee of The Veterans War Memorials. He was also a Town Meeting Counter and worked the polls on election days into his late 80's. Jim's service to Marshfield included being a volunteer firefighter and a Marshfield Police Officer until 1954. He worked for the Boston Edison Company as an investigator, took early retirement at 59, then enjoyed the next 33 years with his wife, family, and friends, traveling, eating dinner at the 99, and scratching lottery tickets. He was dedicated to his church, Our Lady of the Assumption in Green Harbor, where he served on the parish council. He gave to many charities, volunteered as the chair of the United Way Campaign for Boston Edison, was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, President of the Lions Club, and a member of the Sons of Italy.
Jim was predeceased by the love of his life Anne Eileen Talarico in 2012. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage and are reunited now in heaven. He was the loving father of three children, James F. Creed Jr. and his wife Ann of Marshfield, Joanne Creed and Bruce Green of Plymouth, and Jacqueline Creed Ebone, and her husband Isa of Kingston, and three grandchildren, Brendan and Caitlin Creed and Dustin Ebone. He is survived by his sisters Maryellen Hallowell of Londonderry, NH, and Peggy Scollins, of Marshfield, and his brother John Creed and his wife Nancy of Kingston. Jim was predeceased by his siblings William C. Creed, Jr, Joseph Creed, and by his brothers-in-law Donald Scollins, and Bruce Hallowell and sisters-in-law Carole Creed and Silvia Creed of Marshfield as well as his brothers-in-law Joseph Talarico, Jr. and John Kleber and his sister-in-law Sarah Kleber, of Bedford, MA.
Visiting hours will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) in Marshfield on Sunday, March 6 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, March 7 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St., Marshfield at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Couch Cemetery.
