James (Jim) Ardagh Garretson of Duxbury, December 14, 2018 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 53 years to Linda (Banks) Garretson, dear father of David Garretson and his wife, Wendy of Destrehan, La. and Jeffrey Garretson and his wife, Debbie of Seabrook, NH; grandfather of Roen, Megan, Jennifer, Haley and the late Justin Gauron; brother of William and the late David Garretson; brother-in-law of John, Janis and Judy Banks. James also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Jim was an avid fisherman and caught several thousand stripers in his lifetime. He loved being on the water in and around the South Shore in Duxbury, Marshfield, Plymouth and surrounding areas. He loved baseball, basketball and golf. He graduated from Hingham High School in 1961 and Franklin and Marshall College in 1965 and later received his law degree from Suffolk University, graduating cum laude. He was an attorney for Aetna and later Traveler's Insurance in Boston for many years. He spent the last 12 years of his life battling Alzheimer's. Relatives and friends are invited to arrive at 12:30 to gather for a memorial service on Sunday, December 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte. 139) in Marshfield.
