Halkiotis, James G. of Orleans MA and Sarasota FL, passed away on December 24 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Athena (Velonides) Halkiotis. Loving father of Christine Halkiotis and her husband Diogo Teixeira of Wellesley, Carey Halkiotis of Sharon, VT, George Halkiotis and his wife Joan of Hampstead, NH and Paul Halkiotis and his wife Sarah of Marshfield. Loving grandfather of Heather, Alex and Rosie Teixeira, Elaina, Amanda, Anna, Elizabeth, James, Melissa, Julia and Amber Halkiotis. Dear brother of Irene Giannatsis.
Jim was born and raised on a family farm in Haverhill MA. He served his country in the US Army during WWII, Timber Wolf division. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He married Athena Velonides from Revere MA. Jim and Athena raised their four children in Belmont, Ma. They were happily married for 67 years. Jim was a nutritionist, chef, restaurant owner and food technologist. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and cooking for his family.
Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Thursday, January 8 from 5 to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held in the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:00 PM.
