We are sad to announce the passing of James Cradock Power, age 56, of Weymouth. After a recent decline in his health, Jay died peacefully on August 20, 2022 at South Shore Hospital, surrounded by his loving sisters and brothers. Born in Boston, he spent much of his life in Hull and was a proud resident of Gun Rock Beach. With a bachelor's degree from Boston College, he worked at a number of different jobs including sales, software developer and painter. The youngest of the seven Power children, Jay loved playing basketball and golf, reading books of all genres, watching movies and cooking. His greatest love, however, was spending time with his big family and friends. With a kind heart and a quick smile, Jay was a gentle, sweet and quiet giant. He was a devoted son, a dedicated brother, a dear and beloved uncle, and a loyal friend.

Jay is survived by his siblings and their partners: Patricia & Neil Donovan of Maine, John & Mary Power of New Hampshire, Christine & Edward Straughn, Michael & Colleen Power, Suzanne Power, and Brian & Joan Power. He is also survived by his twenty-one nieces and nephews, twenty grand-nieces and nephews, and his large extended family and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Mary & John "Beaver" Power.

Jay's love and spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all of us who loved him.

Visiting Hours will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann by the Sea Parish Church, 591 Ocean Street in Marshfield.
