Scollins, James R., of Marshfield, passed away on August 5, 2017 at the age of 59. James is the beloved son of Margaret M. "Peg" (Creed) and the late Donald Scollins and father of Jessica LaVenia and her husband Christian of Alexandria, VA., Joshua Scollins of New Haven, CT., and stepchildren Jessica and Johnny Kenney. Dear brother of Donald Scollins and Tom Scollins and his wife Leslie, all of Marshfield; James leaves his grandchildren, Annabelle, Madelaine, and Gabriel LaVenia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born in Plymouth and raised in Marshfield, James "Jimbo" Scollins was a graduate of Marshfield High School Class of 1976 and attended Boston State College. He was a lifelong salesman in the dairy industry and was often seen around town donating the soft serve Stoneyfield yogurt machine at town events. Jim was an avid Boston sports fan who volunteered countless hours to Marshfield youth sports. He was League President of Marshfield Youth Baseball League and also coached soccer, softball, and basketball. Jim loved playing golf and was a proud innovator of his own version of Fantasy Football starting in 1985, which he continued to play with his son, brothers, and close friends. His big laugh and warm greeting made everyone feel like they were the only one in the room. Jim enjoyed being a father and especially his new title of Grampy Jimbo. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
