Obituary

James (Jim) Stark III, 70, of Marshfield, MA passed away on April 15, 2026 at 7:06 a.m. after a heroic battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 6, 1956 in Waltham to the late James Stark II and Louise Kerrigan, Jim met the love of his life, Debra, at the age of eighteen. They loved and cherished each other ever since. They married in 1979 at St. Christine’s in Marshfield, the same town where they raised their three sons.

After many years dedicated to mastering his craft, Jim became a highly skilled master plumber, oil heat technician, and pipefitter. In 1997, he proudly started his own business, building a reputation for helping people in need and taking pride in his work. He was known by those in the field as a perfectionist.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debra Stark, and his three sons: Scott Stark and his girlfriend, Heather Madrid of Plymouth, Ryan Stark and his wife Stephanie Stark of Marshfield, and John Stark and his wife Megan Stark of Palm Harbor, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Jody Stark, and was predeceased by his sister, Susan Stark, and his brother, Stephen Stark.

In his younger years, Jim enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, and driving his custom pickup trucks along with his 1968 Camaro RS/SS. During the winter months, he enjoyed ice hockey and snowmobiling with his father, brother, and sisters. Jim found his greatest joy in raising his three sons. As they grew older, some of his most cherished moments were spent side by side with them, working together on their custom cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed his many years of vacation with his family in Alton Bay, NH. Jim’s personality was truly one of a kind. He had a rugged, tough exterior paired with a funny, witty, and sometimes devilish sense of humor. Many customers referred to him as their “favorite plumber” and his coworkers often said he had a way of lightening up the atmosphere on any job site.

Services will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield on Friday, April 24, 2026, with visiting hours from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the services at the Venus II Restaurant, 277 Ocean Street in Marshfield, in the upstairs function room.
