James (Jim) Wilson

11/9/2025

James (Jim) Wilson, 90, born in Melrose, MA, to James Edgar Wilson and M. Madeline (Hoar) Wilson on August 6, 1935, passed away peacefully on November 9, surrounded by the love of his family. Jim met the love of his life, Nancy Marie Tarbox on the Fourth of July 1952 and was married in April 1957.

Jim and Nancy moved to Marshfield in 1966 and raised their family. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Jim's children are Dianne Dakowicz (John) of Washington NH, Kelly Shanley (Steve Fauntleroy) of Plymouth and Sarasota, and James Wilson (Patti) of Edgewater FL.

Jim loved his eight grandchildren - Gabriel Dakowicz (Amanda) of Portsmouth NH, Emily and Gregory Shanley of Marshfield, Caleb Wilson (Maddie) of Chesterton IN, Haylee (Wilson) Biggs (Jonathan) of Hobart, IN, Molly (Wilson) Putchaven (Gavin) of Chicago IL, Bryan Healy of Hanover, Samantha Flynn, Dorchester.

Jim's dearest great-grandchildren, Eloise, Penelope, Julianne, and Maxine Wilson of Chesterton IN., Brayden, Brooks Healy of Hanover and Madison Flynn of Dorchester.

Jim was also especially close with his nieces Ann Shanley (Bill) of Sanibel Island, FL and Marshfield, Amy Prouty (Steve) of Marshfield, Son in law Edward Shanley of Marshfield and Cousin David Sheehan of Massachusetts.

Jim was predeceased by his sister Shirley Shepard of Waukegan, IL.

After graduation from Everett high school in 1953 Jim began building his professional career in the HVAC, mechanical pipe fitting trade and specializing in control systems. In 1955, Jim joined Boston Pipefitters Union Local 537 and worked for Boston based companies, Boston Filter, Capitol Engineering and Balco. This year, Jim received his 70th year certificate from the Pipefitters Union.  He loved his work in air conditioning and refrigeration, and in his later years earned his Master Electrician license. Jim thrived on challenges on the job, teaching apprentices, and providing his clients with timely solutions to systems that needed repair. The successful results provided him with a deep sense of helping people and fueled his desire to problem solve and achieving bests results. Jim shared his skills and teaching with all his children, neighbors, his church, and church families. Jim was always happy to lend a helping hand.

In retirement, when not helping others, he served his church North Community Church of Marshfield Hills on the Building and Grounds Team and as a Deacon. Working with his church family was a source of joy. Jim enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends.  He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

A kind and extremely generous man with a good sense of humor, he will be remembered as a great father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and husband who always put his family first.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Community Church, 72 Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills.
