On Tuesday evening September 25, Jane Laskey Hardy, age 86, of Marshfield, passed on at home surrounded by her family, after a long fulfilling life.
Jane was born on November 26, 1931 in Great Neck, NY to Emery and Madeline Laskey. She was widowed to Allen MacDonald of Marshfield and is survived by her husband Stanley P Hardy, her children Stuart, Philip, Mark and James MacDonald, her brother Robert Laskey, her grandchildren Zachary, Kris, Michael, Sumiko, Kiyomi, Ian, and Conor, and her great grandchildren Hope, Maeko, and Mira.
Jane first came to Marshfield as a child to spend time in the summers with her Great Aunt Dee, in the house that would become her own and from where she left this life. There was no place she would have rather been.
Her passions were the two local quilting groups she worked and played with (the Community League Quilters and the Pembroke Bees), water aerobics, and finding opportunities to get people to tell her about themselves. Jane claimed she was at her best when allowed to "direct and coordinate the activities of others" and was quick to describe herself as "often wrong, but never in doubt!" She was beloved by all she touched and will be sorely missed.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the friends and neighbors who have lent support, as well as the staff of Norwell Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for their care and kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland Street in Marshfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane may be made to The Pat Roche Hospice Home, NVNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 or by visiting the website https://www.nvna.org/ and specify Pat Roche Hospice Home.
