Janet Marie (Fahey) Coen entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2021 at the age of 98 after a brief decline in health. She was born in Waltham on February 9, 1923 to John and Mary Agnes (Kennedy) Fahey. Her siblings have predeceased her; Paul (and Agnes) Fahey, Ruth (and Arthur) Jones, and Richard Fahey. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence (Larry) Coen, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage, and leaves behind her loving children Lawrence (Chip) Coen, Jr. (and Donna Flynn) of Framingham and Cataumet, Jill (and David) Poirier of Marshfield, and Shaun (and Patricia) Coen of Maynard; her cherished grandchildren Michelle Poirier, Luke (and Kelly) Poirier, Brad Poirier (and Kristina Murray), Kathryne (and Michael) Albanese; great-grandchildren Maddox Poirier, Luca and Myles Albanese; many adoring nieces and nephews, devoted sister in-law Nancy Fahey, and dear friend Patricia Pink.
Janet was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham, Saint Vincent's School of Nursing in Worcester, and Boston College School of Nursing, Class of 1950, BSRN. She was a Nurse in the U.S. Navy (WWII) and taught at Chicago Maternity Center, Quincy City Hospital, Waltham Hospital, and created and taught a Health Careers Program at Waltham High School, where she left a positive impact on her students' lives.
Janet was raised in Waltham, lived in Marshfield, MA, Pompano Beach, FL, and most recently Quincy, MA, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff at Hancock Park.
Janet was a devout Catholic, her strong faith helped to guide her through her life. May her positive, caring, fun-loving spirit live on in all who have crossed her path.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, 40 Canal Street in Marshfield. Burial with Military Honors will be on Monday, June 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
